Ftl difficulty4/3/2023 ![]() Nebula beacons are a good thing in normal sectors, especially with long-ranged scanners. They're placed in that order since the Zoltan sectors most often have Nebula beacons. In addition it's easy to do compared to most other ship quests on a regular run.Īfter this, the green sectors. The ship quest often has very good rewards, like a free weapon, and adds two combat beacons. A lot of ship battles increase their scrap value. You do need to be able to do the quest (have the right system upgrades).Īfter that is an amalgamation of the red sectors. Red homeworlds give about as much scrap as a regular Red sector, but also have a nice quest with a double reward, so are slightly ahead of the normal version. This is followed by the Red homeworld sectors. Slavers are some of the best opponents to fight early on, and you get a lot of them in a Pirate sector. ![]() Pirates tend to give increased rewards (double surrender offers). Rock Homeworlds are two sectors in one, so a lot of scrap reward, provided you have a crystal crew member (and didn't forget to (re-)name him "Ruwen").Īfter that, Zoltan Homeworlds are the best, since they are the only place you can get a Zoltan Shield. The crystal sector is #1, because it's free. Pirates are a red sector, but the enemies tend to be pretty weak. A lot of enemy ships, many have missile launchers, and a lot of hazards as well, combined with little stores. Abandoned sectors just tend to have very powerful enemies in Lanius Ships. Slug sectors have a lot of annoying events so are pretty low down the list. Green sectors can have 3 stores and usually have at least two, while red sectors may have none. ![]() In general, this is a combination of events and the likelyhood of stores appearing. ![]() My personal order for the sectors is:ĭanger rating (likelyhood of damage to your ship, from least to most): 01. In almost all other cases, we'd like to go to a 'Rewarding' sector. Are you low on health, then go to a "benign" sector. The choice of sector depends on your current situation. For example, if you're forced down 3 purple sectors, then choosing a Civilian over a Mantis sector to avoid them instead is worth it considering how low down the list the purple sectors are. Sometimes, your choice of option may determine a further path. When choosing between two specific options, read on further. ![]() but eventually you will get a good run where you can beat the boss.Generally, I'd go with Red > Green > Purple for sectors you can't see. if you get a randomly generated ship with 3 shields and like 5 laser shots on sector three, that sucks and you will probably die or at least take alot of damage. i myself mostly play on easy, but depending on the ship i can usually get a win on normal(or at least make it really far) 4. persistance, you have to put time into this game to get gud, sometimes you will die and ragequit but you have to keep trying. you have to pay attention to your own ship almost as much as you pay attention to the enemies ship. you cannot just attack the enemy and expect to win. (also you should know which events to accept and avoid) 2. knowledge, to play on Normal, you have to know yours and your enemies weapons and abilities. Now I'm trying normal mode and I can't even get past the first sector after multiple tries! It is as if the odds are stacked against you the higher the difficulty.
